Mayor Dan Brubaker was recently notified by the Iowa Department of Transportation that the evergreen trees at the north end of Rippey were to be cut down.
The Highway 144 diagonal which runs from Southeast to Northwest through Rippey intersects with Greene County Road P46 from the North. The trees were cut to improve the visibility and later in the spring the paved turn off from 144 north will be widened.
This was done as a safety measure. The bags visible in the photo were placed to prevent erosion following the removal of the trees.
No changes were made to the Galloping Goose monument walking path/bike trail head.
