Veona M. Fisher age 93, of Griffith, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
Survived by her son Leon Fisher; granddaughters: Debbie (Gerald) Tolliver, Teresa (Jim Buehler) Tatge and Cindy Camp; great grandchildren: Tabitha (Mike) Steele, Amber Azpeitia, Matt Azpeitia, Amanda Tatge, Jeremy Camp, Ryan Camp; great-great-grandchildren: Alex Azpeitia, Tyler Azpeitia, Connor Steele, Shay Azpeitia, Aubree Steele, Clarity Azpeitia, Mia Azpeitia.
She was the fifth child of Julious Abijah (Bide) and Mamie Jane (Hiddleson) Nicholas of Rippey, Greene County, Iowa.
Veona was preceded in death by her husband Carl E. Fisher; daughter Jeanette M. Fisher; three brothers, Donald Harve, Paul Ivan, and Vandan A. Nicholas; and two sisters, Delia Alice McDowell, and Marjorie Mae Johannsen .
Veona was an Avon Lady for over 25 years and a member of the Avon Presidents Club. She loved to crochet and enjoyed crafting Afghans, potholders and hand towels for her family.
In her youth Veona helped her father in his Blacksmith Shop and tend to his fruit trees. Veona enjoyed cooking and baking especially her famous Christmas cookies.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville with Pastor Eric Kleinshmidt officiating.
Veona will be laid to rest at Rippey Cemetery in Rippey, IA.
