Alberta Jane High (AJ) went to live with Jesus on Oct. 20, 2014 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. She had been living with her daughter TJ Alvestad and her family in California where she had been loved and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Olive Kiner, sister Sherry Kiner, brother Paul (Babe) Kiner, daughter Sara Berziel and husband Larry High. Alberta is survived by daughter TJ, sisters Marjorie Comer of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Roberta Lape of Georgetown, Texas and four grandchildren she adored, Jordan and Janie Christensen, Quaid and Quintin Kawana, and countless friends.

Alberta was born on July 10, 1936 in Greene County. She attended Rippey High School and upon graduation in 1957, she went to Reed Nurses Training at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She worked at several Jewell, Iowa businesses and was a partner in business with former husband, Dale Alvestad.  She was a long time member at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. She was also active in the American Legion and National League of Postmasters Auxiliary. Her hobbies included gardening, golf, decorating, cooking and travel.

Everything was nice when Alberta was around.  She put something special into everything she did.  She will never be forgotten and always missed.
