Services were held Wednesday, September 14, at the Rippey United Methodist Church for Donald Richard Anschutz, 95, Rippey area native and retired farmer.
Pastor Deb Parkison officiated, Kelly Glenn was soloists, with Marjorie Vannatta as organist. Casket bearers were grandchildren Ronald Glenn, Sherry De Mello, and Bradley, Christine, Wayne and Brian Anschutz. Interment was in Rippey Cemetery.
A Masonic service was held Tuesday evening at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, with John Summerson presiding.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Donald Richard Anschutz, son of Richard N. Anschutz and Maude Thornburgh Anschutz, was born November 18, 1909 on a farm west of Rippey. He died September 9, 2005, at Dallas County Hospital in Perry.
Donald lived with his family in Rippey for a time before moving to Paton, then later to Ogden before moving back to Rippey where he graduated from Rippey High School.
On December 15, 1935, Donald was united in marriage to Edith Pentico at the Baptist Church south of Ogden. They were the parents of two children, Shirley and Gary. They made their home in the rural Rippey area before moving into Rippey in 1948.
Donald worked as a coal miner for a few years before he started to farm. He later found his love for automobiles and became an auto mechanic at Fry Auto Chevrolet garage in Rippey. Donald also delivered the Sunday paper for many years for rural Rippey.
He was a member of the Rippey United Methodist Church, and Elmo Masonic Lodge No. 465 in Rippey where he was a past master as well as a 50 year member.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents: his wife: two grandchildren, Terry Anschutz and Mary Glenn; and three sisters, Vera Heater, Lucille Clark and Anna Faye Truax.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Glenn and her husband Kenny of Perry; his son, Gary Anschutz and his wife Joyce of Jefferson; six grandchildren, Ronald Glenn and his wife Kelly, Wayne Anschutz and his wife Ellen, Bradley Anschutz and his wife Shannon, Brian Anschutz and his wife Jackie, Christine Anschutz and Sherry De Mello and her husband Tony; 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
