Gail Edward “Mac” McComb was born in Grand Junction, Iowa on July 1, 1930 to Andy and Mae McComb where he graduated from high school in 1949. He is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of 37 years, a son Steve, stepdaughter Nina and grandchildren, Katie, Andrea and Heather, great-grandchildren Jarred, Chad and Sam, brothers Daryl McComb, Ray McComb, Andy McComb, Richard McComb and sisters Doris Stewart and Marion Hacke.

Mac joined the navy in August 1950 during the Korean conflict, attending boot camp in San Diego, California and then serving two years in Guam. He returned to the states and then was transferred to Japan for the next 19 months working on the USS Jason, a repair ship. After serving his four years in the Navy, his brother Ray, who worked in the discharge department of the navy, had Mac discharged in the Seattle area.

After arrving in Seattle, Mac worked as a night manager for the Chubby & Tubby store on Ranier avenue for several years. He then worked for the King County Tax Assessor’s office processing all of the county’s information through IBM processing for the next 26 1/2 years, retiring in 1982 as a supervisor.

Mac had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to give anyone the ‘shirt off his back’. There was never a stranger in his presence because of his outgoing personality and the honesty in his handshake.

Mac loved to hunt, fish, spend time with family and most of all, travel with his wife.

He will be missed.
