Kathy was born April 12, 1950 to Kenneth and Mary Cunningham at the Greene County Hospital in Jefferson, Iowa and died July 13, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines after a long and courageous fight with pneumonia. Kathy lived in Rippey throughout her life. She graduated from East Greene High School in 1968.

Kathy married Kirk Brant on August 17, 1968 in Rippey, Iowa. They made their home in Rippey and then later moved to the farm where the family resided in a multi-generational home to raise their family with Kathy’s parents. Kathy managed the Grand Theatre in Perry for 20 years. Through her years at the theatre she made many friends and she adored the kids that worked for her over the years. Kathy loved her animals, from her horses when she was younger, to all of her kitties, dogs, birds and various other animals through the years. Her beloved black Lab, Tango, passed away shortly before she did.

Kathy loved her family and enjoyed spending summer days by the pool with the kids and grandkids or a cold winter night snuggled by the fire watching a movie. Kathy was a devoted grandmother to all of her grandchildren.

Kirk and Kathy loved to travel and took several long road trips visiting national parks and many states. She also loved her movies, music, watching television and reading. She was a beautiful soul inside and out. We will miss her every day for the rest of our lives.
