Services for Lois Mae Rittgers Presnell, 95 of Rippey, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Rippey United Methodist Church in Rippey, Iowa with the family greeting one hour prior.
Visitation was at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry after 1 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Words of comfort were given by Pastors Paul Burrow and Enna Antunez of the Rippey United Methodist Church. Honorary casket bearers were Juleann Hunt-Osburn, Bradley Hunt, Jessica Hunt, Todd Osburn, Shirley Dagit, John Parker, Christopher Boza and Gloria Ibach. Casket bearers were Cody Parker, Jack Ibach, Gail Monthei, Larry Johnson, Ronnie Dagit, and Philip Roberts. Myron Rinker was the usher for the service. Pianist, Marjorie Vannatta accompanied Dick Bardole as he sang, “On Eagles Wings” and “Hymn of Promise.” Interment was in the Rippey Cemetery.

Lois Mae Presnell, daughter of Charles Henry Humphrey and Nellie Fern Slocum, was born January 19, 1917 in Scranton, Iowa. She passed peacefully on March 21, 2012 at the Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center in Altoona, Iowa at the age of 95. Mae was born and raised in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School in 1934. She married Wesley Daniel Rittgers in Perry on June 29, 1938 and the couple settled in Rippey. Wesley passed on November 23, 1966. Mae later married Bryce Leon Presnell in Rippey on March 22, 1969. Bryce passed on July 30, 1971. Mae worked as a cook at the Rippey Consolidated School and was a nurse’s aid at the Greene County Hospital. She had a love for quilting, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles. Later in life, she made eight cherished quilts for her family. Mae was a member of the Methodist Church in Rippey.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents in 1971, her husbands, and her sisters: Bernace Josephine Riley in 2000, and Margaret Ione Dagit in 2008. She is survived by her daughters: Julene Rittgers Boza of Chattaroy, WA and Marna Rittgers Parker of Austin, TX.

Memorials may be given to the Friends of Rippey or the Rippey Library and may be left at Hastings Funeral Home.
