Funeral services were held Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Rippey United Methodist Church for Ralph Mowrer.   Words of Comfort were spoken by Pastor Clare DeBoef and Pastor Deb Parkison of the Fairview UMC.  Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery in Boone County with Military Rites by Kinkead Martin-American Legion Post #583.  Hastings Funeral Homes of Jefferson and Perry were in charge of arrangements.
Ralph Vernon Mowrer, the second son of Vernon Allen Mowrer and Pearl Axie Dorman Mowrer, was born January 14, 1923 on his parents’ farm north of Perry, Iowa, and died August 23, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 7 days.
Ralph attended Liberty Rural School and then high school in Rippey, IA.  He entered in the service of his country during World War II in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy.  he was a gunner on a merchant ship and saw duty in Okinawa.  He was discharged from the Navy in 1946.   Ralph was united in marriage to Beatrice Marie Teasdale on March 11, 1949.  With this union came four children: Timothy, Daniel, David, and Daryl.  They farmed in the Perry and Ogden area most of their lives.
Ralph was an active member of the Fairview United Methodist Church.  he was devoted to his family and loyal to his faith.  Ralph enjoyed flowers, wood carving, and was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents: an infant sister Fern; brothers Floyd and Harold and sons Timothy and David.  He leaves the following family to celebrate his life: his wife Bea: a son Daniel and wife Marla of Earlham, IA; a son Daryl and wife Leanne of Perry, IA; a daughter in law Connie Mowrer of St. Joseph, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; Carrie Criswell and husband Cheyenne of Grimes, IA; Kelly Mowrer of Kennebunk, Maine; Katie Perez and husband Patrick of West Des Moines, IA.; Caleb and Cana Mowrer of Earlham, IA.; Ruth Pometto and husband Joe of Ames, IA.; Jim Mowrer and wife Chelsey of Ames, IA.; Abigail, Bethany, Livia and Jessica Mowrer of Perry, IA.; four great-grandchildren; Imogen Jean Linduski; Emma Claire Criswell; Alexa Jo Nicholson; and Allyson Savannah Perez; a sister Edna Mace and husband Glenn of Perry, IA.; sister-in-law Lorraine Mowrer of Guthrie Center, IA.; Carol Mowrer of Ogden, IA.; Betty Ridnour of Cedar Rapids, IA.; and brother-in-law Raymond Teasdale and wife Jean of Ogden, IA.; other relatives and many friends.
