Wilfred Lansman, “Willie” died February 2, 2009 at Rippey, Iowa.
Funeral Services were held Sunday February 8, 2009 at the Rippey United Methodist Church, Rippey, Iowa. Words of Comfort were given by Pastor Deb Parkinson. The pianist was Mr. Carson Griffith; and the congregation sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art”. The bagpiper was Mr. Lonny L. Lilijegren and he played “Amazing Grace”. The ushers were Myron Rinker and Dennis Ulrich.
Honorary Casket Bearers were: Allison Lansman, Grason Lansman, Dylan Lansman, Logan Lansman, Morgan Lansman, Kasha Lansman, Darwin Tucker, Daniel Baker, Dick Hartman, Michael Marr, and Don Jones. Casket Bearers were: Luke Lansman, Andy Gardner, Richard Lansman, Jr. Chad Lansman, Doug Timmerman, Brent Lansman, and Tim Lansman.
Wilfred Gene Lansman Jr., son of Wilfred Eugene Lansman Sr. and Lucille Arbutice Blanchard Lansman, was born September 7, 1949 in Carroll, Iowa and died February 2, 2009 in Rippey, Iowa at the age of 59 years, 4 months, and 25 days. Willie, as he was lovingly known, started school when he was four in Guthrie Center, Iowa. His family moved to Rippey in 1955 and he graduated from East Greene High School in Grand Junction, Iowa in 1968. He was united in marriage with Susan Catherine Gardner on April 5, 1968. They were the parents of two sons, David and Dean. The family lived in Dana and later in Grand Junction where Willie worked for Farmers Elevator. They moved to Rippey in November of 1970 and he worked at Oscar Mayer in Perry. Willie pursued his interest in electricity with correspondence courses. In March of 1988 Willie started his own business, Lansman Electric. Willie and Sue moved to their acreage in November of 2003. His greatest love was his family and his grandchildren were the light of his life. The family has many fond memories of fishing, hunting and camping together with good trips to Canada. Willie was a member of the Elmo Masonic Lodge in Rippey and was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Perry. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Lucille, father-in-law Larry Gardner, and step father-in-law Louie Monahan. Willie is survived by his wife Sue; father Wilfred Lansman Sr. both of Rippey, Iowa; sons David Lansman and wife Paige of Grand Junction, Iowa; Dean Lansman and wife Heather of Jefferson, Iowa; six grandchildren; Allison, Dylan, Morgan, Grason, Logan, and Kasha Lansman. He is also survived by his sister Kathileen Young of Denver, Colorado; brothers Chris Lansman and wife Marilyn of Grand Junction, Iowa; and Phil Lansman and wife Teresa of Kapolei, Hawaii; mother-in -law Delite Monahan of Jefferson, Iowa; brother-in-law Michael Gardner and wife Nancy of Johnston, Iowa; uncles, Russell Blanchard and wife Lillian of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Arden Blanchard of Nelson, Nebraska; Richard Lansman and wife Marjorie of Perry, Iowa; aunts Jean of Exira, Iowa and Shirley Williams of Leadville, Colorado; other relatives and many, many friends.
Interment was at Lost Grove Township Cemetery Gowrie, Iowa.

Hastings Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
