Jean’s Jottings – 49th BRR

Share

It was a pleasant day this year for the 49th year of BRR riders.  According to the Perry Chamber of Commerce there were 1,203 registered riders. That doesn’t include the support people who follow them. The tables were filled continuously the two hours I was there.  After 49 years the volunteers who serve the meals work like a well-oiled machine to prepare and serve the meal.  My body has “aged out” for helping, but I enjoyed visiting with some of the riders and usually find people who know mutual friends who live in their communities.  The best part for me is watching those “youngsters” who were kids when I married into this community in November, 1963.  I have lots of wonderful memories with their parents.  It’s heartwarming to see them still continuing the tradition of volunteering when needed.
