March 5, 2023

7 p.m.

Present: Dan Brubaker, Cara McCoy, Rick and Mary Liebich, Paula Rychnovsky, Nancy Hanaman. Zoom: Marc Monthei. Paula Rychnovsky opened the meeting at 7p.m. The minutes from the Feb.5 meeting were read and approved. Paul presented the Treasurer’s report approved and filed. A copy is attached to the minutes.

Old Business:

March 17-Irish Stew Meal, 5-7 p.m.

Set-up: Paula and Cara McCoy on Thursday afternoon or Friday. Cara has the pie signup sheet and will remind those on the sheet. Pies are to be at the West Community Room by 5:30 with a card noting the name of the baker and the kind of pie. Cara has signs to be distributed as follows Cara-Rippey, Bobbi Dollinger- Grand Junction, Paula-Perry (CHECK ON THIS), Nancy Hanaman-Jefferson. Paula will check with Mary Weaver regarding the KDLS Community Calendar announcements. Cara and Paula will set up on Thursday or Friday afternoon. Help will be needed during the meal. Pie Auction 7 p.m. with Bingo to follow. April 8 Egg Hunt/Meal and Set-up (NEED TIME). The meal will be planned later. Posters and other publicity after the March 17 event. A drawing for the meat bundle will be held.

Raffle Tickets for Meal Bundles

Dan Brubaker brought packets of 20 tickets and distributed the them. He will check with bars and other possible locations for ticket sales.

Baseball Commission-Kevin Hick

Thirteen games are scheduled through the summer. The first game is March 26. Plans are to host high school spring games sponsored by the Iowa Prep Baseball group. May 5 th -Rippey Ruckus with five teams playing. May 27 th -Celebration of 70 th anniversary of the High School Championship Game between Council Bluffs- Jefferson and Union with those teams playing. Other high school games and games with younger teams are possible as well as more with adult leagues. July 22-Rippey Daze game at 7 p.m. There is a possibility of a team with local players.

Library

New Hours-Closed Sunday and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 2-5 pm; Wednesday-2-6 pm, Saturday-9-11 am.

Car Show-Greg Jacobs for the Rippey Lions Club is making contacts

Parade: A committee is needed to assist Dan with line-up, etc.

Bouncy Houses: Reservation has been made with Reitan Rentals from Manning.

The agreement will be attached to the minutes.

Bingo: Person in charge? (IS THERE SOMEONE IN CHARGE?)

Town and Country Band: Check with Mary W.

Kiddie Tractor Pull: Greene County Farm Bureau-Schyler Bardole contact person. 2-3 pm. on skating rink. Nancy will check regarding their long table.

Baseball-Game scheduled for 7 p.m.

Fireworks: Donations are encouraged. Cost $10,000 with a discount. Current total: $2,793. 25. Donations can be sent to FOR P.O. Box 52, Rippey, IA 50235.

Checks to Friends of Rippey with “Fireworks” in subject line.

Portable Toilets will be arranged.

Food Vendors: Dan-two so far with more contacts to be made.

Other Business: Letters of support from FOR sent for Squirrel Hollow Bridge,

Washington Township Trustees-Trees at Rippey Cemetery.
