One of the new books, Isabel Allende’s memoir, The Soul of a Woman: On Impatient Love,  Long Life and Good Witches includes her early life in Chile and elsewhere, coming of age in the 1960’s to recent times. Check at the Library for her fiction books. She writes in this memoir that it is important to all women “to be safe, to be valued, to live in peace, to have control over their bodies, to be loved.” Her hope is that her writing will encourage women of all ages, especially younger women to continue the work that needs to be done.
