The Rippey Library has been open since July 6th.  There have been several people in, but I know some are worried about it.  I wear a mask and you wear a mask!  I’ve ordered an array of books.  There are some adult, some young adult, and lots of children’s books. I’m hoping the young children and older youth will come in and take some books home. A little time reading every day will help prepare for the new school year.

We are going to be having a Bubble Parade in Rippey around the Library on July 29th at 10 AM.  Families can pick out spots on the lawn or sidewalk to watch.  There will be more advertising later and there will be posters about it.  There will also be books and bubbles to hand out to each child.  I hope the community will participate in this.  If you know someone who might not hear about this, would you please let them know?

Brenda Roberts is still trying to decide when she can have summer reading. It may have to be outside or spread out in our front community room.  Snacks will have to be different also.  Everything will have to be pre boxed, or in plastic bags.  No sorting through cookies!

I am glad we are finally open.  It has been quiet, but some of our regulars have been in and I have utilize the quiet time with cleaning, sorting, weeding and other daily business that needs to be taken care of.

There continues to be many donations to the library. We’ve had paper donation for printing, and we have a donation of the Our Iowa magazine and the Scranton Journal. In past years, we have been given memorial money that can be used for books or something the regular budget doesn’t cover. All gifts are appreciated.

July 27th we will have our first Trustee meeting of the year.  There are seven members now and several are new.  We hated to see Nancy Burrow leave, but they moved to Indianola.   Jean Borgeson, who had been involved with the library for 30 years, is looking forward to being just a plain friend to the library. She will be a willing helper whenever we need an extra volunteer.

I am glad we are finally open.  Please come back to your library.  We have many new books and lots of older ones.  It is FREE, so check out some books!  The last books I ordered were five books called The Boob Girls!! They are mystery books and hilarious.  I glanced at one and when I finish the ones I’m reading now I will start reading them soon.
