December is well on the way. It has been pretty calm at the library.  Normal traffic!  Some checking out books and also a few are on the computers.

Our Library friend, Maralynn Rinker came up last week and I helped her put up the Christmas tree.  It is in the SE corner of the library so it can be seen from the street.  During the week end she put on lights and on Monday I put the ornaments on.  I only dropped one!

I have sent several orders for books.  I may have mentioned it last time I wrote, but the book by Iowa author Heather Gudenkauf, “This is How I Lied”, and John Grisham’s book “A Time for Mercy, ” are here and  I have read both of these.  Heather’s book ruined a night’s sleep, but the next day I read further and it was ok.  John Grisham’s book was long, but very good.

I have Janet Evanovich’s book “Fortune and Glory” and Susan Wigg’s book, “The Lost & Found Book Shop.”  I started reading both of those, but let a patron have them.  J. K. Rowling’s book, “The Ickabog,” and Nora Robert’s book, “The Awakening,” as well as “Happy in a Hurry Cookbook,” by Steve & Kathy Doocy, are also on the shelf.  Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke book, “Piece of My Heart,” is also a recent addition.  They said she kept writing right up to the day she died.  I will miss her books.  I’m reading this one now. Today I received “The Topeka School” by Ben Lerner.  I’ve had requests for this and also J. D. Robb’s newest book and C. J. Box’s.   Those are ordered but will not be here until February and March.

We have decided to not have a Christmas program.  We were able to have the Pumpkin Decorating Contest in October.

I do have some new Christmas Books and there is a whole shelf dedicated to Christmas books.

This past week we have lost several friends.  We have received memorials to the library for Jerry Groves and Doris Stewart. The library memorials are greatly appreciated, as the books are purchased from these donations.

As I write this on Friday, it is raining with the possibility of snow.  It is time I guess, but I sure did enjoy the warm weather.

Come in and take home a book!!
