The Rippey Sesquicentennial meeting was called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor Dan Brubaker. 6 persons were in attendance including two new persons, Jennifer Stagg and Brittany Jungck. Pat Grow McPherson has indicated a willingness to assist, but was unable to attend the planning meeting.

The minutes of the March 14 meeting were distributed, along with the agenda for this meeting.

Mary distributed an application for the Craft Vendor show, and recognized the work and assistance of Carrie Monthei McCain for all her help. The booths will be 10X12 feet, but will not include any chairs or an awning. The fee is $10.00. Persons present were asked to distribute to potential vendors.

Mary also distributed posters announcing July 31st as the day of the Sesquicentennial. Each person was provided two and asked to distribute.

Mary asked for review of “draft” postcards, and distributed copies of school, church, and pictures of Main Street through the years. There was discussion of the appropriate dates, along with general acceptance of the cards. They will be purchased and made available the day of the celebration.

The following items were discussed and determined as follows:
We will use Dan’s 5-acre pasture by the water tower for parking, and arrange for shuttles.
Dan will order 1000 magnets for distribution, that will be returned by individuals who may then sign up for a bundle of meat drawing.
Dan will confirm the date with the fireworks company
We will allow up to 4 food vendors around the craft/car show booths, as those persons will not leave their booths or cars for a meal at the church. Vendors must have their own electricity, and food license. They will be asked for $50.00 to secure a spot.
Mary will complete the application for the gambling license for potential raffle and bingo.

Mary reported the Library Board has determined to sell cinnamon rolls, and have an ice filled water tank on the lawn to sell bottles of water. Mary has arranged for the display case the Library purchased in the past from the Greene County Museum for display of artifacts. She will also arrange for unneeded items to be moved to the former school.

DeAnn and Dale Thompson will be requested to plant some flowers under the mural on the Rolling Hills Bank. There is an 18-inch strip of soil where flowers may be planted

There was general discussion of afternoon activities beyond the children’s tractor pull, the bubbles, and opening of the time capsule. Kat Butler will be arranging for an afternoon/evening street dance, and maybe a wine tasting and potential bouncy houses.

The City of Rippey will be obtaining dumpsters for appliances and trash prior to the celebration.

Brittany will see if she can secure additional vendors.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 P.M.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 P.M. on April 25 at the Library Community Room.
