Rippey Sesquicentennial Planning Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dan. 10 persons were present. The minutes of the April 11, 2021 meeting were distributed. The treasurer’s report showed an overall total of $41,1627.09. The Sesquicentennial account at $20,202; Ball Park $7,432; Friends of Rippey $17,643.80.

Income was $250.00 from Stephen Young for the ballpark, $6,045 from the Greene County Community Foundation for the ballpark, $115 for Sesquicentennial merchandise, and $46.80 for 8 “I REMEMBER RIPPEY” books sold on Amazon from book royalties.

Bills included postcards, stamps, grandstand repair, tile for the safety track, and flags.

800 plus invitational post cards mailed (Friends of Rippey, Alumni, attended Rippey Center)

Dale and DeAnn Thompson will plant flowers under mural

Gambling license has been requested

Souvenir post cards here and were passed around for review

6 vendors have made deposits for booths

Fireworks confirmed at same cost of $10,000 about a 20-minute show, a perimeter of 450 feet around the fireworks will need to be maintained for safety

Applications available for food vendors

City wide cleanup of appliances has begun

Clark Fessler, CB&Y, donating purple and gold, and green and white jerseys for players,

Souvenir jerseys to be made available for sale

Teddy at post office, and Phyliss at Library have Sesquicentennial merchandise for sale.

Baseball Field:

Fence repaired, dug out roof replaced, grandstand refurbished, Tournament on May 14, 15, 16.

Greene County Secondary Road crew, will be removing sod, and replacing with ground tile to widen safety track

Donation of paint and labor by Marc Monthei for foul ball poles

No word has been received about the availability of rental golf carts for the day.

It was determined that Dan would order 2500 magnets, with the understanding they could be presented for a signup ticket given for a meat raffle. Persons do not have to be present to win, but must present the magnet before being given a raffle ticket.

It was determined to begin heavier marketing after Memorial Day

Dan Brubaker has Bingo cards, numbers, etc. for BINGO to be played in the large community room in the afternoon.

Lyle Rychnovsky, Patty McPherson, and Jennifer Stagg, volunteered to help with parade check in and line up for the parade. It will originate at the former school, travel east to Sparky’s, south at Sparky’s, thru the business district, then left past senior citizens one block, then right to the ballpark, and return to the former school site. Dan is completing the application form.

Vendor parking will be available on the east end of Main Street.

Marketing/publicity was discussed and ideas were to be in local parades, such as the Bell Tower and doing radio interviews on local stations.

The meeting concluded at 7:30. The next meeting will be May 9 at 6:30 P.M.

Following the meeting Dan reported he had contacted the street dance/wine tasting D.J. and they are available. Probably starting in the late afternoon/early evening. Exact time to be determined.
