The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dan at 6:30 P.M. in the small community room.

Eleven persons were present. Sharon Ulrich and Patty McPherson notified Mary they were unable to attend.

Mary distributed the final events poster for the day as created by Sarah Killgore. Persons were asked to distribute.

The treasurer’s report was given by Mary. Since the June meeting, one half of the cost of the inflatable houses ($1,090) has been paid. The ballpark field bills paid totaled $81.16.

Funds deposited include $220.00 from the concession stand proceeds for the baseball field, and $2,000 from Valerie Heater Ogren for bouncy houses.

A pledge of $500 was received via e-mail from Marilyn Holmes Johns. Donnie Carpenter gave the donation box from Sparky’s convenient store. Donations received were $107.81 cents. Vendor registration from Lilly and Lauren Riley was $10.00.

Expected invoice from the Jefferson Bee and Herald will be $410.00. An invoice is also expected from the Scranton Journal and Greene County News Online. Cost of portable toilets will be $600.00 and garbage collection for dumpsters will be $600.00.

Print and electronic ads ran last week and will also the week of July 12. Raccoon River Valley Radio will be doing an interview July 12, to be run the third week in July.

Announcements were made as follows:

The refrigerator in the community room has been repaired.

The sign identifying the Rippey Fire Department and City Hall has been erected on the former school gymnasium. A grant for the remodel was received by the City of Rippey from Grow Greene County (Wild Rose Casino).

Brenda Roberts will sing the National Anthem at the beginning of the ball game and will provide a Public Address system.

The baseball park scoreboard is now working.

Water fountain has been installed as a gift from Barb Overman Yingling.

Banners announcing the event have been hung on the baseball fence.

50 copies of the Gray “History Of Rippey, A Century Of Progress” have been reprinted and will be for sale at $15.00. This was completed by Raspberry Ridge Publishing of Jefferson.

The Raffle License has been received from the State of Iowa.

Washington Winners 4-H Club will be selling water on the library lawn.

Baseball jerseys from Clark Fessler are in the states, and available to be ordered in East Greene Hawks or Rippey Bulldogs colors. See Rippey News web site to order. Proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Rippey.

Fran Norgren Teagarden is completing a baseball quilt. Tickets may be purchased after July 18(in accordance with gambling license).

Interior and exterior of the Rippey Park shelter house to be painted by John Jontz.

Sesquicentennial t shirts may or may not be available. Clark is working on it.

To date there is 1 parade entry form completed, but many organizations are planning to participate.

14 Craft vendors have completed applications.

2 food truck vendors have completed an application.

7 car show entrants have completed the application forms..

It was suggested to Mary by Sharon Ulrich that a tent for shade be rented. Dan will follow up with this request. It was determined that shade from the bank will be present by 2:00, so the tent will be erected on the south lawn of the library.

The Thirsty Pig of Gilbert will be providing adult beverages for the street dance.

Nancy Hanaman will follow up with the political parties in Greene County regarding parade entries, and to ask the Town and Country Band if they would like to ride on a float.

Mary will bring the schematic created by Marc Monthei showing the needs of the model airplanes regarding grass cutting and protective fencing from the onlookers to the next meeting. Jennifer Stagg has an orange snow fence that she will make available.

The Greene County Fire Departments will be contacted by Mary this week requesting ONE entry from each for the parade.

Dan Acton will be contacted about the “people mover” and the potential of running a continuous shuttle throughout the day. Additional volunteers may be needed to assist.

It was determined to unearth the time capsule and to store the contents safely until Saturday afternoon when the “box” will be officially opened following the game.

Dan has contacted the Greene County Sheriff regarding the potential need for traffic control during the parade, as the County Road in front of the former school will be closed during the parade.

Three more planning meetings will be held.

Sunday, July 18, Sunday, July 25, and Wednesday, July 28.

Following the meeting, Donnie Carpenter, the Sparky’s convenience store manager, reported persons attending the ball games do not know restrooms are available.

A sign informing them of the restroom location will be made and affixed to the concession stand.
