Tradition

You never know who or how someone has been touched by something so common as a meal provided by a church.  In 1985, when Velda had the idea about feeding the Central Football team, little would she had guessed how much an impact it has made on total strangers.

My neighbor, Virgene Morse, received this note recently and with the permission of Lori Fegley, of Cedar Falls, I can share with the church members and other Rippey people who have been a part of this tradition.

Dear Virgene,

My name is Lori Fegley and I taught kindergarten in LaPorte City with Dee. (Virgene’s daughter, Delores Blanshan).  We had lots of fun together and we continue to get together for lunch as often as we can.

Our family all attended Central College.  My husband and I continue to follow Central College football, attending most of the games.  I wanted to say thank you and your church for providing a meal to the team as they travel back to Pella from Storm Lake.  That is such a special tradition that has gone on for many years.  Thank you for sharing God’s love with the Central football team.
