Eight year old Sophie McKim of Rippey and her Mom, Jess, recently traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past June when Sophie competed as a beginner in the National contest.
Sophie competed in three areas including, tumbling, double mini’s and trampoline exercises. She took the National title in Tumbling, being the high point scorer receiving 39 points of a possible 40, winning out over 100 competitors.
Sophie is a member of Elite Power who has studios in Jefferson and Boone. She attends the Jefferson studio. She was also a part of the Elite Power group that received the Second Place award in the July 4th parade held in Perry. The winning entry float was pulled by a car, with girls performing from the float to a stand on the back of the car.
