The 2 Person Ryder Cup Format Golf Tournament was held August 29th at The Hill in Grand Junction, bringing golfers together for a day of friendly competition and fun on the course. The weather was a bit dreary, but beautiful.The tournament started around 10am and featured 12 teams competing in the unique format. The first six holes were played as best shot, the next six as alternate shot, and the final six holes allowed teams to take the best score of the two golfers. After a full day of competition, Patrick and Pete Miover took home the tournament championship. Tony Park and Bryce Laughlin finished as the winners of the first flight, while Rob and Kenneth captured the second flight. Billy and Zach Carpenter finished in last place. A free will offering meal was also enjoyed. The tournament paid out $570 in prizes. The 50/50 raffle raised $120, with $60 going back to the winner. The event was a success both on and off the course. A total of $634 was raised toward prizes for next year’s 3rd Annual Friends of Rippey Fundraiser Golf Tournament, helping ensure the event can continue to grow and return for years to come. A special thank you goes out to all of the golfers who participated, to Donnie Carpenter, and to the volunteers who made this event happen.
